Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery (eye lift or Blepharoplasty)

Aesthetically, the eyes are the most important part of the face. Eyes represent the age of an individual and reflect his/her emotional state and, unfortunately, eyes and eyelids show signs of aging earlier than other organs. Plastic surgery on the eyelid that is called "blepharoplasty" is performed to remove excess skin and fat, remove eye bags and in some cases, to trim sagging eyelid skin and the main purpose is to rejuvenate facial skin and appearance.

The eyelid plastic surgery is a cosmetic surgery that is performed to correct eyelid changes and create a younger and happier look. It is one of the most common cosmetic surgeries, which removes excess skin, fat and muscle and corrects the eyelid position; it improves one's appearance significantly and gives a younger and cooler look.

Who is a good candidate for blepharoplasty?

The best candidates for blepharoplasty are individuals generally 35 years old and saggy skin or bags under eyes (caused by excess fat) have caused unpleasant changes in their face. The surgery requires that the person should be generally healthy and have no specific problems. However, it is important to remember that blepharoplasty is a surgery and its possible side effects are not simply eliminated. Therefore, accurate specialist consultation is essential for this surgery.

Results of cosmetic eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty)

Wound healing is a gradual process. The incision is usually pink in color for up to six months and after that it gradually becomes a fine white line and then it almost disappears.

Eyelid cosmetic surgery has beneficial results that include:

Improving peripheral vision

Boosting self confidence

Long-lasting result of surgery, sometimes lasting for the rest of your life

Complications of Blepharoplasty: complications after cosmetic eyelid surgery are uncommon, provided it’s performed by an experienced surgeon. Nevertheless, like any other surgery, there is always a possibility of complications such as surgical wound infection or anesthetic sensitivity. You can reduce the risk of postoperative complications by following the doctor's instructions before and after surgery.

Mild postoperative complications include: temporary double vision (Diplopia) or blurred vision, inflammation of the eyelid (Blepharitis), asymmetry of incision site on both sides, small white bumps on the incision. These complications are transient and resolve within a few weeks.
